CEGEP is not the only option.
It is a common misconception in Quebec that CEGEP is the only option after graduation. There are plenty of other opportunities for our graduates. Some of the most common alternative options are going to college in Ontario, going straight to university, or joining the armed forces. Other students also decide to go straight into to work force, volunteer, or travel for a year before returning to their studies. You will find information concerning these choices on this page.
Ontario Colleges
Ontario colleges welcome Quebec high school graduates in their schools. Students will need to verify specific program pre-requisites before applying and be diligent about ensuring the colleges receive their academic transcripts and other required documents by the specified deadlines. Applications are completed online by visiting www.ontariocolleges.ca Application deadline is February 1 for fall admissions. |
University
There are a few universities that will accept Quebec high school graduates. These students need to have exceptional academic standing and be very independent. Application deadlines vary from one university to another, please consult individual websites for information. |
Canadian Armed Forces
The Canadian Armed Forces offers job and educational opportunities in many diverse fields. High school graduates are usually encouraged to complete one year of post-secondary education before applying, however there are some opportunities open to students upon completing high school.
